LED growth bulbs

LED growth bulbs: the most frequently asked questions

Are you looking for information about the operation of LED growth bulbs and how you grow with it? Look no further, it is here.
The LED breeding light is on the rise in garden and greenhouse construction. And that is not surprising. A LED breeding lamp After all, you will give you plenty of benefits! In this article you can read the benefits and the most frequently asked questions about LED growth bulbs.

What is an LED growing lamp?

An LED growing lamp is a lamp that is used in garden and greenhouse construction to grow plants and flowers (and bloom). After many years of experimenting with LED, it is possible to get a higher yield of flowers and fruits with a lower wattage. Unlike with a normal HPS lamp, sodium or incandescent lamp, there is less heat release with LED, which means that high temperatures are a thing of the past.

How does that work, such a growth lamp?

We also recently wrote about the exact science Behind LED growth lighting, but that might go a bit too far for now. The big difference with old -fashioned HPS or sodium lamps is in it Light spectrum. This light spectrum is expressed in value Par. The amount of par says something about photosynthesis, the more par, the more photosynthesis and the better the plant can grow and bloom.

Which lamp do I need for my culture room?

The lamp you need depends on the room, therefore measures the floor. The length times The width is equal to the amount of M2. Get the best results from 40 to 50 watts per square meter so look there LED growing bulb Also out.

How high do I hang an LED growing lamp above the crop?

The information below is recommendations and can be different for each type of plant. The number of recommended centimeters has been measured from the top of the plant.

  • Sowing/germinating: +/- 70 cm
  • Growth: +/- 70 to 100 cm
  • Growth: +/- 45 to 100cm
  • Flowering: +/- 25 to 50 cm

How long does an LED grow lamp have to be on?

A separate button for growing and blooming is not present on every lamp, but this is also not necessarily necessary. It is good to work with an external timer (or the timer in the lamp - if present) so that these times are pursued.

  • Sowing/germinating: 6 pm on, 6 hours off (dark) - possibly 20 to 4
  • Growth: 6 pm on, 6 hours out (dark)- possibly 20 to 4
  • Growth: 18 hours on, 6 hours out (dark)
  • Flowering: 12 hours on, 12 hours out (dark)

Which LED growth bulbs are there all?

Light spectrum of an LED growing lamp

A LED breeding lamp from the LED department store often equipped with a 12-band spectrum as standard. In addition to the regular colors of red and blue, the LED grow lights also have orange, white and UV light, infrastructure-red light and "flower boosters" that are in the red spectrum. This makes the 12-band Spectrum a full-spectrum.

What growing conditions are important?

In addition to a good one LED growing bulb Are there a number of factors that can be enormously important in the growth and flowering of a plant (or flower). The temperature, the humidity level and the air supply have direct elaborations on the photosynthesis of the plant. The Perfect temperature Is between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius. As for the humidity We advise staying between 50% and 70%, using an air supply and air discharge that is in Belans. PH values Differences per plant but in most cases you can suffice with a value of 6 to 6.5.

Which breeding light should I have?

We have a width range with LED grow lights, We understand that it is sometimes difficult to make a good choice. A number of things to remember are:

Advantages of LED growth lamps

Compared to regular grow lights (HPS sodium), deliver LED grow lights Some important benefits on:

  • Up to 60% power saving
  • A healthier growth and bloom of plants and flowers
  • Less heat: a more regulatory temperature in the grow room or greenhouse
  • Longer lifespan of the lamps (up to 50,000 burning hours)

Does LED work in a combination with HPS or with sodium lamps?

Yes, it is no problem to hang LED and HPS together. We get this question arranged because growers often first want to replace a number of 'old -fashioned' lamps to see if it works. Logical of course, but try to do that alternately so that there is a good light mix of LED light and white/yellow light. There will be a decrease in heat and therefore also the use of water and nutrients.

Other tips on purchase

With larger growth rooms (from 5 square meters), a good spread of the light is important. Multiple growth bulbs with a slightly lower wattage probably give more light spreads on the sides of the crop than one lamp with a high wattage. A high light intensity is good if it only goes on a few square meters. Choose with larger grow rooms to have about the same light intensity everywhere.

Can I borrow a lamp as a greenhouse horticulture or grower?

As a company you can contact us for LED growth lighting and the installation of LED systems. We are happy to look at a suitable light solution together with you. LED growth lighting in the greenhouses in particular is still quite new and sometimes requires some experimentation to get the right light composition, the light spectrum and the right PAR value plays an important role in this. The LED department store therefore offers the possibility for a test phase in which you can try a lamp without costs. Totally free!

You don't want to switch in one go? No problem, it can also be gradual. For example, you can think of replacing the current lamps that no longer do it. This way you gradually invest in your company to ultimately save many euros. We can make a free test setup together with you. Therefore register as a company through us Contact Form.

I want proof! Is there a breeding report available?

The LED department store promises good breeding results, we understand that you want to see this substantiated with, for example, a report or results overview. To our Blog Do you find breeding reports regularly. See more? That is possible, we have a report of each lamp available upon request.

What is the lifespan of an LED grow lamp?

LED growth bulbs are often used in environments with a high humidity level. Our lamps perform well under such circumstances, which is why in most cases we give a minimum of a 2 -year warranty. On request it is even possible to make growth lamps IP65 (waterproof), for this you can contact us. The standard lifespan is often around 50,000 burning hours, which is because we use high quality LEDs from the Cree brand. Even after the warranty period we would like to remain your point of contact when something is wrong with a lamp. Due to the modular structure, parts are often easy to replace. We are happy to advise you what is best to do at that moment. You can of course expect the service from us that you are used to.
The lifespan of our LED company lighting and LED lighting for sports fields is also 50,000 burning hours. With normal use during office hours, these lamps will certainly last 10 years. So it is not only the energy consumption that makes the purchase of LED lighting interesting, but also the lifespan.

Where can I find a manual?

With most LED growth lighting is one instructions included. In all other cases it has been decided not to tax the environment with paperwork, you can simply use the usage for us blog find. If you still have questions, you can ask them via our chat function or it Contact Form.

Why has UV light added in your lamps?

UV light is good for the growth and bloom of your plant or flour. In particular in the growth phase, UV light has a good effect because this helps photosynthesis well. Just like infrared light, UV light is not itself with the human too, see also below. It seems like an LED is not working, but in fact that is of course not true. UV light is nit in every LED breeding light, look at the products. UV Light is an extra stumilator in the flowering phase of the plant, just like Ver-Rood (from 670 nanometers).

It seems like a number of LEDs are not working, is this correct?

If all LEDs work except for a number, this is probably one of the infarood (IR) LEDs. This light is not perceptible with the naked eye. How did that happen? The cones in our eyes all contain a different color pigment and therefore also has their own sensitivity maximum. In addition, IR-Licht falls outside the scope of our sensitivity maxim, making it look like there is no direct light. If you have ordered a 7-band spectrum or a 12-band spectrum, it is common for such LEDs to be present in the lamp. It seems as if there is a very small bright spot in the distance of the LED, so we sometimes get asking if there is something wrong with the LED. We do not advise you to look too much with the naked eye in the bright light, but if you still want to do that, at least use sunglasses. Do you want to be sure that there is nothing wrong with the lamp? No problem, restlessly Contact on.

How do I know what light spectrum I should have?

We have written about this before because we have had many questions about the differences in LED spectrums. The LED spectrum you need is different for every stage in which the plant is located, namely germination, pre -growing, growth and flowering phase. White, blue and red light are important during the germination and the front growth/growth phase, look for the exact nanometers in the article.

What is the warranty on LED growth lamps?

We strive to deliver sustainable and high -quality products, luckily we have succeeded well so far. A quality product also includes a guarantee, we are happy to be clear about that. The LED department store gives a standard 2 -year warranty on every LED grow lamp unless stated otherwise. The warranty period is sometimes longer up to 3 or 5 years and in some cases slightly lower. With every LED breeding lamp/LED growing lamp that we sell, it is stated what the warranty is. If you still have questions about the warranty on a product, you can always Contact to withdraw.

If I also use daylight, is it not superfluous with LED?

Shining with LED growth lamps is never wrong, it even provides extra benefits. The light of an LED growing lamp provides extra stimulus of the flowering phase because specific LEDs with high par measurement activate photosynthesis. Please note that you do not overlook the rhythm of the plant. By that we mean that the plant needs rest and prefers to be in the dark. After all, we humans also have to sleep to be able to start rested on a new day again. That's how it works with the plant. The moment the flowering phase is active, it is fine for the plant to receive only 12 hours of light.
Returning to the question is therefore good to shine with LED. It therefore won't hurt to provide your plant with extra LED light in the dark days.

For which crops can I use your growth lamps?

LED grow lights can be used for every type of crop. Because most growth lamps a different light uistral, it is good to find out which type of light your plant needs, here a short guideline:
My plant only has to grow and not bloom: you can finish it with a 2, band, 4-band, 5-band or 7-band Spectrum
My plant has a long growth phase and only has to bloom afterwards: broad beans, for example, generally have a longer growth phase before the bean actually arrives: 5-band, 7-band or 12-band Spectrum.
My plant must mainly bloom and pay off: 12-band Spectrum

Is the par value of LED lighting important?

The PAR value is an important measurer for photosynthesis. In fact, par is the measurement for the growth and flowering of plants and flowers, a grow lamp does not work without par. Par is graphically displayed in a spectrum, see the image below. Because we have had many questions about the par value, we have one about this article written. If you still have questions, you can contact us.

Can the growth and bloom of the Apollo lamps to be arranged itself?

The Apollo grow lights do not have a separate button for growth and bloom. There is only one type of original Apollo that contains this and that is the variant with a control panel. The LED department store has noticed that the current control panel does not match the needs and is too complicated. That is why we do not sell this lamp. Other Apollo lamps that contain 2 buttons (1 for growth and 1 for flowering) are not the original Apollos. You have a good chance that it will be a Chinese LED grow lamp that will not come from the original factory. So guarantee up to the front door.

What is the light distribution of the Apollo 10?

The Apollo 10 Is one of the most sold LED grow lights. That is because the price-quality ratio is very good. The light spread is very good, the lamp covers a surface of 1 by 1.20 meters. That is at a hanging height of about 75 cm above the crop. K can be kept higher, but that is at the expense of the light intensity. At 75 cm you have an ideal light mix.
